5 wellness trends to embrace for a good start to the new school year
Like January 1st, nothing beats the start of September to adopt new habits and take on new challenges. But with the hectic pace of getting back into the swing of things, it’s hard not to get overwhelmed! To face this exciting time without stress and keep to your good intentions, Omnisens has found 5 wellness trends for you to adopt starting today. Follow the guide!
1- For inspiring mornings: I set up a Morning Routine

For many of us, getting up an hour earlier every morning can feel like a kind of torture. Giving up a precious hour of sleep, what a thought! And yet setting up a morning routine means starting each day with a moment just for yourself, devoted to an activity that makes you feel good. Tempting, isn’t it?
The idea of the morning routine, or “ morning habit ” is simple. It involves establishing a small ritual to repeat every day, by getting up an hour before your usual wake-up time. The goal is to create a habit : that of giving yourself a moment just for you to start the day more calmly.
Whether it’s to read a book, to do yoga, to apply your facial care routine, or simply to have breakfast in peace : the content of your morning routine is yours to choose! In the long run, the benefits of a morning routine are many: increased productivity, healthier lifestyle, better stress management… Plenty of good reasons to start today!
2 – For a bit of colour on the menu: I take up Batch Cooking!

If for you, cooking varied and balanced meals every day feels like an impossible task: it might be time to try Batch Cooking ! You couldn’t have missed this trend which involves planning the week’s menus in advance, and cooking all the meals once and for all with your family.
To get started, you will easily find resources online or in bookshops : many cooking blogs and recipe books are now dedicated to batch cooking. You will also need some equipment, especially to keep your preparations so they don’t lose flavour or nutritional value.
Besides an obvious time saving, adopting batch cooking allows you to eat more healthily, to vary your meal ideas, while saving money and making the most of organic and seasonal produce. Not to mention that preparing all meals in advance helps free your mind and greatly lighten your mental load! So, will you take up the challenge?
3 – For a lively restart: I challenge myself while listening to my body!

High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), Crossfit, Bikram Yoga… If intense sports training was all the rage a few years ago, the tide is turning. Staying fit, yes, wearing yourself out, no thank you!
This year, sport is gentle, low-impact, while remaining lively and more playful than ever! Most clubs take advantage of the new season to offer trial offers and open days, so it’s now or never to try new activities and find the right fit for you!
3 desires, 3 activities to discover:
• To burn calories: Aquarunning
The land cousin of aquabiking, aquarunning involves running on a treadmill submerged in water. This very cardio activity is excellent for muscle strengthening, for fighting cellulite, or for losing weight, if that is your goal. Moreover, it is gentler on the joints than running or aquabiking.
• To let go: Fly Yoga
If you are a fan of traditional yoga and want to deepen your practice gently, look no further: fly yoga is for you! Sometimes called “ Cloud Yoga ” or “ Acrobatic Yoga ”, this type of yoga is practiced in a suspended hammock, which allows you to go further in the postures, without the constraints of lack of suppleness or balance. Also, the act of letting yourself go in the hammock, sometimes even tipping over, is an excellent exercise in letting go.
• To shape up: Indoor climbing
Good for both body and mind, bouldering is very trendy and even made its Olympic debut this year! This climbing technique without a harness, using only the strength of arms and legs, allows you to tone all the muscles of the body while sharpening the mind and focus. It is also a great way to gently overcome fear of heights and to disconnect from daily worries .
4 – To stay connected without becoming hooked: I practise Digital Wellness!

You know about Digital Detox: in fact, you practised it all through August. Well done! But to avoid plunging headfirst back into hours of screen time and endless scrolling , have you heard of Digital Wellness ?
This principle of “ digital well-being ” is based on a sense of balance. Here, it’s not about cutting everything off, but rather about choosing your content mindfully, and consuming it wisely. Because yes, social networks, often blamed, are also a rich source of stimulating, motivating and enriching content ! The key is to set some rules so you don’t get caught up every day.
Our tips for practising Digital Wellness:
• Follow only accounts, blogs or people who make you feel good. If you find that content makes you feel bad, guilty, or pressured in any way: have the “unfollow” reflex !
• At the table, turn off notifications! During meals, keep your phone on silent, or at least in your bag if you are expecting an important call. Enjoy this friendly moment to talk, share, or if you eat alone, to savour your meal and focus on your taste sensations.
• No screens in the bedroom. Smartphone, tablet, TV: turn everything off at least 1 hour before bedtime, and make sure to protect your eyes from blue light throughout the evening.
5 – To stay grounded in the present: I practise Mindful Meditation

One last piece of advice to face the new season calmly, but no less important: take up mindful meditation. Those who already practise meditation will not contradict us, as the benefits of this ancient practice are proven, for both body and mind.
Practising mindful meditation, or “ mindfulness ” in English, means learning to quiet your thoughts, to cut off the endless “ notifications ” our brain sends us, and to fully anchor yourself in the present. The result: better management of emotions and stress, more restful sleep, greatly improved concentration skills… all qualities that will help you face the new season calmly!
To start meditating, free yourself from preconceived ideas on the subject: there are as many ways to meditate as there are people in the world! Many guided meditation apps can help you get started and find the practice that suits you best. Our favourites? Petit Bambou, or Headspace if you are comfortable with English.
